Division 1 Athlete Masters Student Professional Pianist
My name is Lucas Picco, and music has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played piano my whole life, and over the years, it has become one of the most meaningful ways I connect with people. I primarily play by ear, which allows me to learn and perform songs in a very natural and personal way. If I hear a melody, I can often sit down at the piano and bring it to life. That ability has helped me build a wide range of music, primarily focused on modern songs, classics, and special requests.
I currently perform as a pianist at Von Maur, where I provide live music that adds to the atmosphere and creates a more enjoyable experience for guests. Playing in a professional setting has helped me develop not only as a musician, but also as a performer who understands the importance of presentation, consistency, and reading the room. Whether the moment calls for something soft and elegant, warm and familiar, or more expressive and emotional, I enjoy shaping the music to fit the environment.
Who I am
Outside of piano, I am also a Division I track and field athlete specializing in mid-distance events, particularly the 800 meters. Competing at the Division I level has taught me discipline, focus, time management, and the ability to perform under pressure. Those same qualities carry over into my music. Whether I am preparing for a race, studying for class, or performing at an event, I take pride in being dependable, prepared, and fully committed to what I do. Academically, I recently graduated with my degree in economics in just three years and am now continuing into my master’s degree in economics and plan to complete it during my fourth year of college. My academic background has strengthened the way I think, plan, and approach goals, while athletics and music have taught me creativity, resilience, and dedication. Together, these experiences have shaped who I am both personally and professionally.
As a pianist, my goal is to make every performance feel special. I enjoy playing music that creates an atmosphere, brings back memories, and adds emotion to important moments. Along with my regular performances at Von Maur, I am available for special events, private gatherings, celebrations, and other occasions where live piano music can make the experience more meaningful.
Whether I am performing for a quiet evening, a formal event, or a special celebration, I bring a combination of musical passion, professionalism, and personal touch to every performance. Piano has always been more than just something I do — it is something I love sharing with others.
